WEEK 54: I'm still alive I promise!

Hello Everyone!

(A transfer and a half later...)

Well, much has transpired since I last updated all of you. A few key things- I am in a different area called Te Awamutu. It's a cute lil New Zealand farming town and we have visited a lot of the member's farms. So many cows haha. I had a wonderful companion from Tahiti, Sister Mariteragi. My new companion is Sister Cantwell and she is from Texas. I am no longer working in the online teaching center, which is bittersweet. I loved my time there, but I am also happy to be fully working in one place. President Erekson is our amazing new mission president and we love him. Also I turned 20!

I had the opportunity this week to speak in sacrament meeting- at a branch in a tiny place called Kawhia.  There was a total of 11 people there in this tiny building. It's funny because it feels both awkward and comfortable at the same time to speak to a small group of people. I was so grateful to experience the strong spirit of this tiny branch. These faithful members come every week, 2 priesthood holders and 7 women in Relief society. I think they are an example to all of us.

I've been reading the Doctrine and Covenants again and I felt to share these verses. I really love the revelations given through Joseph Smith to Oliver Cowdery. Doctrine & Covenants 6:20-23

20 Behold, thou art Oliver, and I have spoken unto thee because of thy desires; therefore atreasure up these words in thy heart. Be faithful and bdiligent in keeping the commandments of God, and I will encircle thee in the arms of my clove.
21 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the aSon of God. I am the same that came unto mine bown, and mine own received me not. I am the clight which shineth in ddarkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not.
22 Verily, verily, I say unto you, if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might aknow concerning the truth of these things.
23 Did I not speak apeace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater bwitness can you have than from God?

I could point out several messages I like in there, but the best thing would be to have you find the meaning for you :) So find that and treasure it up haha :) The spirit tells us what we individually need to know.

Our whole mission is doing a "finding fast" this week- we eat breakfast but then all day we do nothing else but try to find people to teach. No appointments, studies, anything. Please pray for us that as we do this our mission will be able to find those that are seeking the truth. We need your prayers!

Please remember that you are loved.

Have a good week,

-Sister Barker
